İKSV to host famous Dutch dance theater

Renowned contemporary dance company the Nederlands Dans Theater takes the stage at İKSV fest.

The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts will host two performances by renowned contemporary dance company the Nederlands Dans Theater in celebration of 400 years of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Turkey on June 15.

Nederlands Dans Theater II was founded in 1978. In its more than 25 years of existence, it has developed into a top quality, internationally recognized dance company performing in theaters all over the world, including Spain, the United States, France, Germany, South Korea, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.

The repertoire of Nederlands Dans Theater II is quite varied. They work with established choreographers such as Jirí Kylián, Hans van Manen, Ohad Naharin, Paul Lightfoot/Sol León and Johan Inger, and more importantly, with young and upcoming choreographers. The company is especially aimed at inciting the interest and excitement of young audiences for today’s dance. Nederlands Dans Theater II will perform three pieces during their performances in Istanbul: “Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen” by Jirí Kylián, “Shutters Shut” by Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, and “Cacti” by Alexander Ekman.
