The Hürriyet media group will keep its non-partisan, objective and independent stance for the coming local elections on March 30, 2014, Aydın Doğan said while chairing a meeting of the group’s Publication and Broadcasting Ethical Principles Board yesterday in Istanbul.

Pointing out that the "polarized" media will be the focus of attention "more than usual" in the election atmosphere, Doğan said that his group had "chosen the difficult option to remain impartial and independent," as in the cases of former elections.

The leading private media group in Turkey, the Doğan Group controls a number of newspapers, TV stations, web sites and magazines, including the national dailies Hürriyet, Posta, Radikal and the Hürriyet Daily News, as well as TV stations such as Kanal D and CNN Türk.
