Turkish football club Galatasaray has decided to part ways with Italian Manager Cesare Prandelli, Vice Chairman Abdülrahim Albayrak has told Anadolu Agency.

Daily Hürriyet reported that Hamza Hamzaoğlu, a former Galatasaray player who has been assisting coach Fatih Terim for the national team, has been assigned as the club's new coach.

Galatasaray has not started the 2014-2015 season well, losing to arch rivals Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Super Cup at the opening of the season. It has also been less than convincing in the league and suffered a humiliating UEFA Champions League campaign.

On Nov. 26, Galatasaray was eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage after losing 2-0 to Belgian club Anderlecht.

The Lions are still third in the Spor Toto Super League with 19 points, just a point behind city rivals Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş.
