Gabar oil output hits record 83,300 barrels per day
ANKARA
Daily oil production at the Gabar fields in southeastern Türkiye has reached a record 83,300 barrels, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Aug. 6.
“New drilling and discoveries have lifted our daily oil production in Gabar to a record 83,300 barrels,” Bayraktar said, adding that efforts to raise output would continue.
More than 50 million barrels of crude oil have been produced in the region since operations began in 2021, according to the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.
State-owned Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) began production at the Şehit Esma Çevik field in the Cudi-Gabar region and subsequently expanded operations through further discoveries and drilling at several nearby fields.
Bayraktar said improved security had enabled TPAO to conduct seismic surveys and drilling more extensively in the area.
He linked the rise in production and employment to the government’s “Terror-free Türkiye” initiative.
