A militant of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) of French citizenship has been apprehended in Turkey’s Aegean province of İzmir after getting a hair transplant but before realizing his dreams of getting plastic surgery, allegedly in order to “look better.”

İzmir police received intelligence that Mehdibend Said, a French ISIL militant of African origin, had arrived in İzmir from Syria in order to stage an attack.

Listed by French authorities as a French national to have joined the ranks of ISIL, Said was located by İzmir Police Department’s Intelligence Unit upon entering town.

Unaware that he was being followed, Said went to a beauty salon in İzmir’s Karşıyaka district to get a hair transplant. Reports allege the militant was also preparing to get plastic surgery in order to “look better.”

The İzmir’s intelligence unit in cooperation with anti-terror police staged a joint operation to apprehend Said on the morning of Nov.11.

Reports indicate investigations are ongoing to find Said’s contacts in İzmir.

Meanwhile, three ISIL militants of foreign nationalities were apprehended in Turkey’s southeastern province of Kilis on Nov. 11 before crossing into Syria.

In a written statement, the Kilis governorate stated that “legal and administrative investigations” were started on the militants apprehended in the Yavuzlu village, close to Turkey’s border with Syria.
