Turkish Ambassador in Paris Tahsin Burcuoğlu said Dec. 23 that the French were confused and embarrassed after an Armenian resolution pertaining to the incidents of 1915 was adopted in the French Parliament Dec. 22.

Burcuoğlu said “the French were now reckoning with each other.” What was interesting Dec. 22 was although the resolution was a product of the French government, those opposing the resolution in French parliament were also members of the government, Burcuoğlu also said the French were surprised by Turkey’s reaction to an Armenian resolution. Burcuoğlu said the Turkish Embassy in Paris has received phone calls from all segments of society. “We were touched with the support we have received from various circles. I was especially touched by the way the Turkish community in France reacted to the Armenian resolution,” Burcuoğlu said. Burcuoğlu has returned to Ankara for consultations. He was set to meet Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
