Films on Istanbul shore at Istanbul Modern Cinema

ISTANBUL
As part of the gallery’s “Young Architects Program,” Istanbul Modern Cinema has prepared a selection of three films, titled “On This Shore,” to take visitors on a journey through Istanbul’s history along its shores.

A different film will be screened each evening on July 2, 3 and 4 on 9:30 p.m. at the open-air cinema to be set up in Istanbul Modern’s courtyard, reviving memories of the area where the museum now stands.

What the selected films have in common is the way Istanbul’s waterways, quays, and shores have lent an authentic and touching setting to their stories and become visual counterparts to the emotional world of the characters.

The films in the program are “Boğaziçi Şarkısı” (Bosphorus Song) on July 2, “Yalnızlar Rıhtımı” (The Quay of the Lonely Ones) on July 3, and “Tophaneli Ahmet” on July 4.

The films will be screened in Turkish without subtitles. Tickets to each screening are 10 Turkish Liras.
