Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has visited the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station in Canada as part of his two-day trip to the country.

Fidan toured the facility in Ontario together with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, diplomatic sources said on June 25.

The Darlington station, located in Clarington near Toronto, is one of Canada’s major nuclear power facilities.

No further details were immediately provided on the visit.

Fidan began his two-day visit to Canada on June 25 for talks aimed at deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in trade, energy and defense.

Separately, Fidan held a phone call with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil to discuss the earthquake disaster and humanitarian needs in Venezuela, Turkish diplomatic sources said.

During the call, Fidan received information from Gil on the impact of the earthquakes and Venezuela’s relief requirements.

Fidan conveyed condolences on behalf of the Turkish people and said Türkiye would continue to provide assistance, according to the sources.

Two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24, causing casualties and damage in several areas.
