Ria Oomen-Rujiten, the European Parliament’s rapporteur for Turkey, met with Muharrem İnce, group deputy leader of the opposition People’s Republican Party (CHP), Umut Oran; and the deputy head of the EU Harmonization Commission and Istanbul deputy Osman Korutürk. The CHP members criticized the government and said, “The government has not been able to achieve success in combating terrorism. The government ought to resign.” They received a totally unexpected response from European Parliament Rapporteur Rujiten. “I do not find it right that you demand the government’s resignation because Parliament needs to solve this problem through solidarity,” Rujiten told the astonished the CHP members.
