Erdoğan, Aliyev visit Teknofest in Istanbul

ISTANBUL

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev visited Teknofest 2023 in Istanbul Atatürk Airport on April 29. 

Erdoğan emphasized the importance of the role that youth was going to play in the future of Türkiye. "I see here tomorrow's space travelers, inventors, pilots, engineers, physicists," he said.

"Türkiye is the guarantor of peace, stability, safety in our region," President Aliyev said. "Kızılelma in the air, Altay and Togg here, Anadolu at sea... This is Türkiye today."

This year, Teknofest has brought technology enthusiasts together for the seventh time in total and sixth time in Türkiye.

Aiming to increase the country’s human resources trained in the fields of science and engineering by creating awareness in technology and science, the festival will feature competitors in several different categories.

The five day festival includes programs on technology, science, aviation-flight shows, award ceremonies, exhibitions, summits, workshops and events.

On May 1, the festival will end in Istanbul, and from Aug. 30 to Sept. 3, it will be held at the 11th Airforce Base in capital Ankara.

Erdoğan introduces Türkiye's 1st space travelers

Meanwhile, Erdoğan introduced Türkiye's first space traveler and his backup at Teknofest.

Erdoğan introduced Türkiye's first space traveler Alper Gezeravcı who will stay at the International Space Station for 14 days, and his backup Tuna Cihangir Atasever.

Gezeravcı is a pilot at the Turkish Air Forces Command while Atasever is an engineer working on space launch systems at Roketsan.
