Electricity usage hits all-time record July 10

The previous record in daily electricity consumption was broken in 2012.

Turkey’s electricity consumption has hit all-time record high on July 10, with over 807.8 million kWh of power used in one day, Energy Minister Taner Yıldız has announced.

Summer heatwaves that boosted air conditioner usage rates as well as rise in agricultural irrigation and industrial production have skyrocketed the electricity city consumption in the country.

The ministry also said instant peak demand also broke record with 39,088 megawatt.

The previous record in daily electricity consumption was broken in 2012, when 799 million kWh of energy was consumed in a day, according to Turkish Energy Ministry.
