Eight from the same family killed in land feud in Diyarbakır

Eight people have been killed in a land dispute between two families in Diyarbakır’s Bismil district. Diyarbakır Governor Cahit Kıraç told Anadolu Agency that four people had also been injured during the armed dispute.

Kalashnikovs and rifles were used by both families during the clashes, Doğan News Agency reported, adding that all eight killed were members of the same family. İskan Üstün, his five children, and two brothers died in the clashes, while the four injured were members of the rival Er family.

Local Gendarmerie forces have launched an investigation into the incident. Family feuds are frequent in the southeastern provinces of Turkey, where rural landlords still own huge properties.
