Egypt’s patience ‘running out’ with Turkey: Presidential spokesman

CAIRO – Anadolu Agency
The Egyptian interim president’s spokesman has slammed Turkey’s stance over the military takeover, adding that Cairo’s patience was “running out.”

Asked about the ties between the two countries during a press conference on Sept. 1, the presidential spokesman Ihab Badawi raised the rhetoric level with Ankara.

“Egypt’s patience with the Turkish government is on the brink of running out,” Badawi said while stressing the countries’ historical relations.

“However, Egypt looks to its ties with Turkey from a wide perspective and considers the strong ties that link our people,” he added.

The Turkish government decried the military takeover on July 3, expressing vocal support for the toppled President Mohamed Morsi.
