A couple living in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır’s Ergani disrict have named their new-born baby “Evet,” meaning yes in Turkish, to draw attention to the country’s April 16 referendum on the charter amendment, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Feb. 15.

The father, Mustafa Çelik, said he did not regret naming his child “Evet,” urging people to vote “yes” in the upcoming referendum.

The mother, Songül Çelik, said the name was a mutual decision and wanted to highlight the importance of the referendum.

The couple said their baby was in healthy and stable condition.
