Classical Music Fest hosts Jose Carreras

World-renowned tenor Jose Carreras gave a concert as part of the ‘D-Marin Turgutreis 8th International Classical Music Festival’ in Bodrum. Carreras was accompanied by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra under the conduction of David Gimenez during his performance, which consisted of two fractions. Carreras performed the most well-known pieces of F.P Tosti’s “L’ultima Canzone” (The Last Song), C.Gardel’s “Lejane Tierra Mia” (My Distant Country) and M.Leigh’s “The Impossible Dream.” The prominent tenor was also accompanied by soprano Simge Büyükedes.

The festival’s guest of honor this year was composer and musician Professor Muammer Sun, who received a plaque for being a contributor to the festival. In his speech, Hüsnü Akhan, the executive manager of Doğuş Holding Company, said that the festival, supported by their institution, contributed to the promotion and adoption of classical music in Turkey. Some journalists like Mehmet Ali Birand, Hıncal Uluç and the theater actress Yıldız Kenter were in the audience during the performance. Yücel Canyaran was the festival art director.
