Trabzonspor chairman Sadri Şener was outraged by main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) lawmaker Umut Oran’s visit to the club on Oct. 31.

Şener was reportedly angry at the Turkish football club’s deputy chairman Nevzat Şakar, who welcomed Oran, due to the lawmaker’s previous statements about the ongoing match-fixing case.

“I am so appalled and irritated. I was not informed about this visit. I should have been asked,” Şener said. “The CHP can visit Trabzonspor on just one condition – to apologize.”

Numerous Fenerbahçe officials, including Chairman Aziz Yıldırım, were found guilty of fixing several matches in the 2010-2011 Super League campaign, where Fenerbahçe won the title over Trabzonspor.

The verdict still awaits appeal, but Trabzon chairman Şener has made several attempts for the title.

Many CHP officials, including party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, have said they were not convinced by the case.

Şakar may resign after Şener’s statements, according to media reports.
