Bilkent Symphony brings Wagner and Beethoven to life

ANKARA

HJ Lim, one of the best interpreters of Beethoven, is the soloist of concert.

Bilkent Symphony Orchestra will play Beethoven’s “Op. 37, C minor for Piano,” “Op. 60, C major for Symphony” as well as selections from one of Richard Wagner’s most important operas, “Tristan und Isolde.” Known to be one of the best interpreters of Beethoven, HJ Lim will solo at the concert.

Born in South Korea, where Lim emigrated to France on her own at the age of 12 to study, she subsequently graduated with highest distinction from the Conservatoire National de Rouen and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. In 2007, she was awarded First Prize by unanimous decision at the FLAME Competition in Paris. Limi currently lives in Switzerland.

When Limi wanted to share her progress with her family back in Korea by uploading some of her recital videos to YouTube, she inadvertently also captured the imagination of nearly half a million music lovers worldwide, who became a devoted fan base. A recital at the Stadt-Casino Basel in November 2009, where she performed Rachmaninov’s complete Études-tableaux and Chopin’s complete Études was also uploaded to YouTube, attracting phenomenal online traffic. The orchestra will perform “Prelude und Liebestod,” which is the concert arrangement of Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde.”
