The Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) has filed a complaint against construction company workers and their assistant who attacked security personnel at the İrfan Şahinbaş Theater in Ankara over the weekend.

Workers for the construction company, which has been in conflict with the İrfan Şahinbaş Theater over land at the site, raided the theater and tried to erect a fence around the disputed area, according to the TTB petition.

The theater security personnel were reportedly wounded when they tried to resist the workers, with one suffering a heart attack and another suffering a broken nose.

The TTB argued that the suspects had previously been involved in similar acts.

The construction company reportedly bought land including a green area beside the theater, as part of the construction of a new business center. Following a complaint, the court ordered a stay of execution for the construction of the center.

Nevertheless, teams from the company reportedly came to the area late in March and cut down the trees from the green area.

Actors, actresses and personnel working at the facilities gathered at the theater in March to protest against the move.
