Aydın Doğan competition cartoons now go to Adana

The Aydın Doğan Foundation International Cartoon Competition 30th Year Exhibition,  organized by the Aydın Doğan Foundation, has been opened in the southern province of Adana.

The exhibition, organized at the 75. Yıl Art Gallery within the scope of the 92nd anniversary of Adana’s liberation from enemy occupation is displaying 200 cartoons, five of which have been awarded in the competition.

This year, 842 cartoonists from 77 countries took part in the contest with a total of 2,544 cartoons. The international committee, which gathered in Bodrum, also evaluated 234 cartoons by 199 artists from 43 countries that had already been chosen for consideration by the pre-selection committee.

Polish cartoonist Krzysztof Grzondziel’s work, which particularly focuses on the damage caused by wars, won first prize in this year’s contest. The second prize of the contest went to Turkish artist Asuman Küçükkantarcılar and third prize to Luxembourger Pol Leurs.

The exhibition in Adana will continue until Jan. 13.
