Automotive exports down in four months

Turkey’s automotive products exports were down 1 percent to $6.78 billion in the January-April period from the same period a year earlier, according to data released yesterday by the Union of Automotive Exporters (OİB).

However, exports by the country’s automotive supply industry increased by 5 percent to reach $2.87 billion in the given period, the data also revealed.

Car exports decreased 7 percent in April over the same month a year earlier and exports of cars between January and April dropped 8 percent to $2.18 billion.

Exports of automotive products to the European Union were down 18 percent in April to $1.08 billion, while exports to the Turkic republics were up 130 percent to $33 million and exports to African countries were up 42 percent to $111 million.

In the January-April period, automotive exports to the EU were down 6 percent to $4.68 billion over the same period a year earlier.
