Auditors quit at Finance Ministry

ISTANBUL
Accountants and auditors working at the Finance Ministry are resigning following a restructuring at the institution, according to daily Star.

The number of professionals who have resigned so far has hit 40, according to unnamed sources. A majority of those quitting are continuing their careers as certified public accountants, according to the report.

The professionals had previously protested the restructuring with ads in newspapers.
The Finance Ministry restructured the institution’s then-four different tax auditing units in July 2011, bringing them under one umbrella.

The titles of professionals who work for the ministry, such as “fiscal inspector,” “field auditor,” and “revenue inspector” were all abolished and subsumed under the common title of “tax auditor.”
