At least nine people have been detained in operations linked to the recent Gezi protests, currently taking place in five different cities, according to daily Hürriyet.

The operations, yet another addition to a series of recent raids, were launched by counter-terrorism squads in the early morning hours in Ankara, İzmir, Samsun, Mersin and Tunceli.

The number of detentions is likely to rise, according to a report.

Meanwhile, four suspects were released and two others were sent to court on July 30 to face charges of “opposing the law on public marches and demonstrations” for organizing an iftar dinner in Taksim’s Gezi Park.
