Assaulted woman shots husband dead with his own gun

ISTANBUL
A 22-year-old Turkish man was shot dead with his own gun by his estranged wife early on Sept. 27 in Istanbul’s Üsküdar district after he assaulted the woman following a quarrel, daily Habertürk has reported.

The husband, identified as Serhat K., was shot in the chest by his wife, Kader K., after the woman, who came to the plot in the Kuzguncuk area of Üsküdar upon her husband’s demand, was assaulted and dragged on the ground when an argument erupted between them. Panicking after seeing a gun on the man’s hip, Kader K. reached for the weapon and fired two shots at the man. The woman left the scene while Serhat K. was still alive, heading to her father’s home in Istanbul’s Ümraniye district.

Kader K. later returned to the scene with a friend and after finding the man alive, called police and surrendered. Serhat K. was taken to Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while police detained the woman, along with her friend Emrah B., who took her back to the scene after the shooting.

Police, meanwhile, said the couple separated 20 days ago when Kader K. left the house because she had experienced violence at the hands of her husband, who was known to police for uttering threats, robbery, carrying an unlicensed weapon and possession of drugs.
