Applications open for Türkiye pavilion at 2027 Venice Biennale
ISTANBUL
The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), coordinator of the Türkiye Pavilion at the 2027 Venice Biennale’s 20th International Architecture Exhibition, has launched a two-stage open call to select the project to be exhibited.
According to a statement from the foundation, the call is open to curators, architects, artists, historians, designers, theorists and critics, as well as anyone working in architecture and related disciplines.
The Biennale will run from May 8 to Nov. 21, 2027.
Proposals submitted in the first stage are expected to address current issues in architecture from local, regional, and global perspectives, explore architectural concepts through interdisciplinary approaches, and move beyond conventional narratives while presenting a coherent curatorial text.
Projects selected for the exhibition must combine a strong visual narrative with clear and accessible thematic expression. The call encourages multinational teams led by a team member from Türkiye. Submissions are expected to develop an approach aligned with the theme and call set by the Biennale curators Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu.
Applicants must submit documents detailing the exhibition theme and project proposals, exhibition design and spatial layout, team structure and working principles, along with the applicant’s CVs and portfolios. In the second stage, the three shortlisted teams will be asked to provide detailed information on schedule, working methods, printed materials and budget. Final selection requires the project teams to assume full curatorial responsibility and coordinate with the selection committee and İKSV team in developing the exhibition.
Applications must include an online form, a clear curatorial proposal and a summary project board uploaded as an English PDF by June 10.
