American-Turkish Council rejects resignations

The American-Turkish Council (ATC) has rejected the resignations of its chairman James Holmes and his deputy Canan Büyükansal and requested them to remain at their posts for a “smooth transition” period.

Sources familiar with the issue said some members of the council had shown discomfort after Holmes sent a monthly bulletin including references from Today’s Zaman and comments by the board members that appear to give credit to the accusations in the corruption probe of Dec. 17, 2013.

A statement from the council’s board of directors said: “The chair of the executive board of the ATC retired Gen. Jim Jones rejected the resignation letters of CEO Jim Holmes and executive director Canan Büyükünsal and requested them to remain at their posts.”
