5G subscriber base reaches 44.5 million in four months

Türkiye’s 5G subscriber base has reached 44.5 million within four months of the technology’s introduction on mobile networks, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said.

Recalling that 5G services became available on mobile networks across Türkiye on April 1, Uraloğlu said 21 million subscribers adopted the technology on the first day.

“Today, that number has reached 44.5 million. In approximately four months, more than half of our country’s population has gained access to 5G. In other words, one out of every two people has become a 5G subscriber,” he said.

Uraloğlu stated that 5G, with its ultra-low latency and capacity to support a large number of connected devices compared with 4.5G, will help position Türkiye at the center of digital transformation.

“In transportation, fully autonomous driving and smart road applications will improve road safety and enable more efficient traffic management,” he said.

The minister also highlighted the technology’s potential impact on industry and urban development.

“In industry, production processes will be optimized through smart factories, autonomous robots and real-time data analysis. In smart cities, innovative solutions will come to life in every field, from energy management to parking systems,” Uraloğlu said.
