Twenty people were injured when two trains collided Wednesday at a station close to the capital Lisbon, rescuers said.

"Latest figures give 20 people who suffered slight injuries," the head of the Lisbon district civil protection organisation, Elisio Oliveira, told AFP.

He said one train ran into another "at a very slow speed" in Caxias station west of Lisbon on the line to the seaside resort of Cascais, he added.
