Police detained 11 suspects from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and al-Nusra Front in the Mediterranean province of Adana on March 30, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Some of those detained were foreign nationals, police officials said, adding that one of the suspects was also a minor. Simultaneous operations were conducted on 19 different addresses to apprehend 21 suspects who allegedly provided financing and recruits for the two Islamist groups but could detain only 11 of them.

The suspects were taken to a police station to provide testimony after medical examinations.

Meanwhile, the Justice Ministry stated that there were 498 arrested and convicted ISIL members in Turkish prisons as of February.

The ministry said 470 of the ISIL members in prisons were under arrest, while the other 28 were convicted.

ISIL suspects and convicts make up 64 percent of the foreigners in jail on terror charges in Turkey.

The ministry also stated that 15 foreign children between the ages of 12 and 17 were under arrest on charges of being a member of the jihadist group.

Some 70 ISIL suspects and convicts are between the ages of 18 and 21, with 65 under arrest and the other five serving as convicts. There are a total of 413 ISIL members over the age of 21, with 390 arrested and 23 convicted, according to ministry data.
