11 ISIL militants killed by Turkish shelling

Eleven militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were killed on July 2 in cross-border shelling by the Turkish military.

Turkish artillery units and rocket launchers shelled a total of 21 ISIL targets, including weapons emplacements and Katyusha missiles, in northern Syria.

According to initial examinations, 11 ISIL militants were killed in the shelling, while two weapon emplacements and two vehicles belonging to the group were also destroyed.


Four PKK targets destroyed in northern Iraq

Meanwhile, Turkish warplanes conducted an air operation against outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in northern Iraq on July 2.

According to initial examinations, four PKK targets were destroyed in air operations conducted at 7.10 a.m. in the Avaşin-Basyan region.

Turkish warplanes also destroyed a total of 27 PKK targets in a separate air operation in the Zap and Gara regions of northern Iraq on July 1.
