Young Russian pianist to open concert season

Bilkent Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will open the new season with a concert by Russian pianist Anna Vinnitskaya on Saturday at the Bilkent Concert Hall in Ankara. The concert, under the art directorship of Işın Metin, will begin at 8 p.m.

Vinnitskaya has won many awards, including first prize in the International Queen Elisabeth Competition. She was the second woman in the history of the competition to win first prize for piano, after Ekaterina Novitskaya in 1968. She also holds Schleswig Holstein Festival’s Leonard Bernstein Award and has an important career among a young generation of pianists.

In the concert, BSO will play a work by Rahmaninof. Tickets for the concert are available at Biletix. One hour before the concert, there will be free shuttles from the Tunus Street and the National Library.
