World Political Forum 2013 kicks off in Istanbul

The World Political Forum is a non-governmental event, hosting guests from all over the world. Istanbul hosted the event for the third time.

Academics, politicians, experts and businessmen launched the two-day-long annual World Political Forum (WPF) in Istanbul on June 27 to discuss new approaches and a new understanding to the world’s global and regional problems.

The guests discussed in separate sessions the global economics and how countries should deal with the global crisis from now on, fundamentals of health systems, the future of technologies and how transportation and communication would affect our world. The problems in Africa and the Middle East were also on the agenda of the organization. What should be done for a sustainable future and the new era that social and digital media opens were also among session topics.

The World Political Forum is a non-governmental organization which hosts guests from all over the world and discusses the most pressing issues of the world. The organization has been held in Istanbul for the past two years and the 2013 Forum marks the third time.

Iraq Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq organized a press conference earlier in the day and answered questions from journalists. Al-Mutlaq said that he was happy to attend the forum.
