A woman, who was hit by the car of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) deputy Faruk Bal’s son, lost her life yesterday.

Bal’s son, Türkmen Ali Bal, was driving his father from a party congress in the central Anatolian province of Eskişehir to Ankara yesterday when he hit a woman and her son, who were crossing the road near Eskişehir’s 71 Evler neighborhood, at around 6 p.m.

The injured mother and child were rushed to Eskişehir’s Osmangazi University Hospital, while Bal was taken to a police station in Eskişehir’s Kurtuluş district, where he testified about the accident.

Türkmen Ali Bal has been released from custody pending trial. A public prosecutor later ordered the release of Bal, who will reportedly stand trial on charges of “causing injury due to negligence.”
The injured 10-year-old, Sefa Oğuz, remains in a critical condition, according to reports.
