Villager wounded by explosives from Afyon

AFYON
A villager has been wounded by explosive material which was scattered by a Sept. 5 blast that killed 25 soldiers at a military depot in the western province of Afyonkarahisar, Anatolia news agency reported yesterday.

Veli Konak was picking walnuts when he accidentally set off an explosive that was hidden in his garden. Konak was transported to Afyonkararhisar State Hospital, where he was said to be in good condition.
Five more grenades were previously found inside another villager’s yard.
Authorities have warned locals to be careful about explosives and grenades that were scattered around following the blast.

The soldiers were killed as they stocked ammunition in the depot late on Sept. 5. Military prosecutors announced Sept. 14 that there was no sign of sabotage, although authorities have also arrested Maj. Ali Dursun on charges of negligence in the explosion.
