Turkish commandos have caught a shotgun wielding convict after a movie-like, 2-hour operation in Kayseri.

Turkish commandos have caught a shotgun wielding convict after a movie-like, 2-hour operation in the central province of Kayseri.

The suspect identified as Gökhan Yıldız, 28, who was sentenced to five years in prison for causing injury, refused to go to jail and was caught walking around the abandoned buildings in the Şehit Nazım neighbourhood Aug. 6 carrying a pump-action shotgun.

The police besieged the half-naked suspect in one of the buildings; however, Yıldız managed to escape via the roof and started firing his weapon, which prompted the police to call in the Special Forces unit.

The suspect was trapped in one of the abandoned buildings and when the two-hour-long negotiations eventually broke down after, the security forces were called to disarm the suspect. Yıldız was detained in the operation and casualties were averted as a result.
