A Turkish Airlines and a Delta Airlines plane made emergency landings on the evening of Nov 25 in Istanbul's Atatürk Airport.

A plane on Delta Airlines’ Atlanta-Dubai route has made an emergency landing at Istanbul’s Atatürk International Airport, after one of its passengers suffered a mid-air heart attack while passing through Turkish airspace.

62-year-old Indian-origin U.S. citizen Rameshbhai Bhagubhai Patel was immediately taken to hospital after Delta’s 777-232 Boeing made the landing, but he could not be saved.

The plane continued at 18:20 p.m. after Turkish paramedics received the patient.

Earlier in the day a Turkish Airlines plane flying from Mogadishu to Istanbul made an emergency landing in Istanbul when Mahmut Abdulkerim, a Somali national, had a heart attack on board.

Abdulkerim’s body was taken to hospital after the emergency landing, but he was also already dead.
