Two suspects have been arrested over the deadly capsizing of migrant boat off the Aegean resort town of Bodrum, which left 12 people dead including Syrian toddler Aylan Kurdi.

The suspects, identified only as Cebrail E. and Burhan Y., were arrested on Sept. 9 on charges of “migrant trafficking” and “intentionally causing death,” the state-run Anadolu Agency reported early on Sept. 10.

Another suspect who had also been detained, identified as Seher B., was released on probation.

On Sept. 2, 12 people, including eight children, drowned after their boat heading to the Greek island of Kos sank after leaving Bodrum.

The images of the lifeless body of Aylan Kurdi, washed ashore in Bodrum, sparked a wave of emotion in Turkey and across Europe. The boy’s mother and older brother, Galip Kurdi, also perished in the incident.
