Turkish Prime Minister’s security police shot at in Istanbul

Police forces overseeing the security on roads that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was expected to use have been fired on, according to claims.

Policemen found seven empty cartridge cases at the bridge that was on the route between the prime minister’s house in Kısıklı district and Sabiha Gökçen airport, where his private jet, ANA, landed at around 1:15 a.m.

Police force teams have launched a wide-scale investigation into the suspects, or suspect, who are thought to have opened fire from the street below the bridge where riot and civilian polices were waiting.

Right after the incident the prime minister’s convoy passed through the road and went to his home under tightened security measures along the route.

A witness working at a bakery near the scene said he saw a man with a gun after hearing gunshots.

“I heard gunshots, when I looked outside I saw a man putting his gun into his pants. I told my wife not to go outside. I got really scared,” Doğan news agency reported as the witness saying.
