Turkish police officer commits suicide in İzmir

A police commissioner at the İzmir Police Department committed suicide in his house in İzmir’s Karşiyaka district today.

Police officer Murat Öğütverici, who worked in the İzmir Police Department’s Research Planning Coordination unit, got up early for morning prayers that day, according to his wife, Hatice Öğütverici. Fifty-five-year-old Öğütverici shot himself in the head with his gun, his wife said.

It has been learned that Öğütverici left a note saying that no one was responsible for his suicide. Police have opened an investigation on the incident.
