Turkish hunter kills 250-kilogram boar that ‘terrorized’ village

A hunter in the western Turkish province of İzmir killed a 250-kilogram (550-pound) boar that has been terrorizing a nearby village, local media reported on July 10.

İbrahim Salum was one of the hunters who were recently called to help by the villagers of Eskioba, a rural settlement in İzmir’s Tire district, after a big boar destroyed their melon and corn fields.

Salum accepted the mission and tracked the animal for three days with his hunter friends last week. The trail ended when he managed to shoot down the boar with four bullets.

“There are many boars in this area, some of them damage crops and some of them put traffic safety at risk by entering roads, but this is by far the largest one we have seen for a long while,” Salum told Demirören News Agency.

“It is really of a scary size,” he added.
