Turkish flamenco guitar master to perform at Alt

Accomplished Turkish flamenco guitarist Doğan Canku will be meeting with fans with a rare Istanbul performance at club Alt on Feb. 8.

Accomplished Turkish flamenco guitarist Doğan Canku will be meeting with fans with a rare Istanbul performance at club Alt on Feb. 8. The concert starts at 10:30 p.m. and tickets are available at www.biletix.com and the club’s main booth. Canku started his music career by receiving training and education on cello and piano at Ankara State Conservatory in 1958. He shifted to classical guitar in 1974 and shortly after managed to become hailed as one of the most gifted flamenco guitar players in Turkey at the time. In addition to several singles and 5 LP’s he contributed to the iconic Turkish pop band MFÖ, Canku personally released one LP and three albums. The artist’s club performance lasts around 90 minutes.
