Turkey has almost doubled its installed power in the energy sector with implemented projects in the past 10 years, as the resource-deficient country seeks alternatives to eliminate its import dependency on energy.Turkey has added about 25,000 megawatts to its installed power between 2002 and 2012, increasing its total to 57,000 megawatts from 32,000.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yıldız said as Turkey grows “thanks to political stability,” its energy need grows with it.

Yıldız emphasized that according to the most recent calculations, the country will consume twice the amount of energy in the coming 10 years.
