Turkish-American Business Association names new president

Veteran businessman Ali Osman Akat has been named the new president of the Turkish-American Business Association American Chamber of Commerce (TABA/AmCham). 

Akat, who was elected in the 31st general board meeting of the association, has pledged to make a key contribution to boosting bilateral ties between Turkey and the United States along with a new executive board, the organization said in a written statement on Aug. 18. 

The association, which was founded in 1987, also acts as the American Chamber of Commerce Turkey, and elected its new executive board, which is composed of Mustafa Necati Işık, Serdar Kılıç, Gökyar Karşıt, Süleyman Sanlı, Hamit Mücellit, Hakan Orduhan, Şansal Tur, Özgür Rodoplu, Coşkun İnce, Hakan Avdan, İzzet Serhat Demir, Ali Rıza Arslan, İbrahim Uyar and Dursun Topçu in addition to Akat. 

The Ambassador of the United States to Turkey, the Consul General of the U.S., the Undersecretary of Commerce, and the official representative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are all honorary members of the TABA/AmCham Board.
