Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu filed a declaration of property to parliament on Nov. 30.

Kılıçdaroğlu’s declaration includes assets held by his spouse, Selvi Kılıçdaroğlu, and son Kerem Kılıçdaroğlu, the CHP announced.

According to the statement, Selvi Kılıçdaroğlu owns a house in Balgat, Ankara, (worth 142,000 Turkish Liras) which was bought in 2003. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu also has a house in Akyurt, Ankara, (worth 57,300 liras) bought in 2003, a house in Tunceli (worth 75,284 liras) bought in 2007 and four more houses in Burhaniye, Balıkesir, (worth 300,000 liras) that were bought in 2009.

The declaration showed that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has been a member of the Gökyurt and Akçalı cooperative housings since 1997 and owns an Opel Astra automobile (worth 51,000 liras). 

Eight art pieces painted by artists such as Nuri Abaç, Fikret Oytam, Güler Çakır, Hüseyin Yüce and Ayatullah Sümer were also listed in the declaration as “immovable properties” belonging to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Following his retirement as a senior civil servant in 1999, Kılıçdaroğlu was elected as an Istanbul MP for the CHP in 2002. He was elected as the leader of the party in May 2010.
