Turkey works on defense missile

ANKARA - Anatolia News Agency
Turkey is working on developing its own defense missile that may come to fruition in a decade, Industry Minister Nihat Ergün has said.

Responding to journalists’ questions over his quotes at an Ankara meeting yesterday, Ergün said Turkey was already working on a 250 kilometer-range SOM cruise missile, tests of which have already been completed with a range that could potentially be doubled. Another study on anti-missile weapons is in the works. Ergün also noted that a NATO mission was in the eastern province of Malatya yesterday, inspecting possible locations in which the alliance’s Patriot missiles may be placed.
