Turkey summons German charge d’affairs over ‘Armenian genocide vote’

Turkey summoned the German charge d’affairs in the absence of the ambassador after the approval of the “Armenian genocide” resolution at the Bundestag, according to Foreign Ministry sources. Robert Dölger was summoned at around 4.45 p.m. on June 2.
The Foreign Ministry said the decision was "shameful" in terms of the German Parliament's "prestige."
"The Resolution adopted by the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany on 2 June 2016 concerning the events of 1915, which is regarded as a legitimate matter of debate in the European case-law, is a disgrace to the reputation of this body," the ministry said in a statement.
"This Resolution is an example of ignorance and disrespect for the Law, politicizing history, preventing free discussion on historical issues, and trying to impose the self-created taboo of the Armenian narrative as an indisputable fact," it added.
