Türk Telekom profit rises 27 pct in quarter

Turkey’s leading phone and internet services provider Türk Telekom’s profit was up 27 percent in the first quarter of the year compared with the same period in 2011, the company said yesterday in a press release.

Consolidated first quarter revenues rose by 3 percent in the same period and reached 3 billion Turkish Liras.

The number of broad band internet subscribers surpassed 7 million during the first quarter of 2012.

Avea, the mobile phone unit of Türk Telekom, added 170,000 subscribers in the first three months of the year and increased revenues by 12 percent annually to 787 million liras.

Türk Telekom invested 405 million liras in infrastructure and technology during the first quarter, the company said.
