The number of passengers carried by Turkish Airlines increased by 18.9 percent year-on-year in the period between January and May 2012. A statement by the airline said the national carrier carried 14.3 million passengers in the mentioned period. The airline had carried 12 million passengers in the same period last year.

The carrier also announced yesterday that it will launch flights to Kiev from Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul. Turkish Airlines will fly to the Ukrainian capital three times a week in addition to 13 weekly flights scheduled from the Atatürk Airport.

The flights on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays will start on June 19, the company said.

Turkish airlines is not a customer friendly airline! On 14 June I flew from Dubai to Istanbul with Turkish and 250 people were kept on the ground at Dubai airport as the captain waited for a letter which had to be taken ti Turkey. WHY should 250 people be kept waiting for a letter? Many other people on this plane lost their onward flight due to this madness. Thought I love Turkey and always support Turkey I will only fly Turkish airline when I have to in future(and I am a gold card holder)
