Teacher commits suicide after being dismissed over alleged Gülen links A teacher who was dismissed over suspected links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) has killed himself in the northwestern Turkish province of Bilecik.

Mustafa Güneyler, 50, was dismissed as a part of the state of emergency decrees published in the Official Gazette on Sept. 2, targeting alleged members of FETÖ, believed to have orchestrated Turkey’s failed coup attempt of July 15.

Before being dismissed Güneyler was suspended on suspicion of links to the movement of the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen. After not hearing from him in the aftermath of his dismissal, his relatives notified the police.

A locksmith was called to open Güneyler’s door and he was found dead inside his apartment after killing himself, Doğan News Agency reported.

His body was sent to the forensic medicine institute in the neighboring province of Bursa for an autopsy.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.
