DHA photoSyrian students studying in a Quran course in the Hacılar district of the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri have performed an end of the year show including a play featuring toy guns.
The play, titled “Children of Damascus,” was about the Syrian war and was performed in the Hacılar Municipality’s Culture Center.
Some of the people in the audience were seen crying after the play.
Turkish and Arabic poems and songs were read and sang during the event, before which provincial mufti Mehmet Özbek gave an opening speech.
“As the mufti office our support for our Syrian siblings will continue,” said Özbek, who added that 22 Syrian students in the course had memorized a part of the Quran and other students were trying to do the same.
A slide show about how people were saved from bomb attacks in Syria was also presented during the event.
