Syria agrees to allow in OIC humanitarian aid

JEDDAH - Hürriyet Daily News
Syria has officially granted permission to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to send humanitarian aid to the country ahead of the OIC chief’s meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington, the body’s official spokesperson said yesterday.

Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhiet said the OIC was currently making the necessary arrangements to send a humanitarian delegation to Syria in the next few days to identify and prepare a complete study of humanitarian needs on the ground. Speaking at OIC headquarters in Jeddah, Bakhiet also said there was no need to politicize the issue of OIC humanitarian aid to Syria because the Syrian crisis was not purely humanitarian. OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu was scheduled to meet with Clinton in Washington yesterday, and they were expected to talk the incidents in Syria.
